Where students learn how to apply the future – today.

Encouraging Technology and Hands On Science

ETHOS Innovation Center helps children and adults engage with science and technology through hands-on programs and events. We offer opportunities to connect science to everyday life through problem-solving, discovery and critical thinking. We also help classroom teachers and their students meet and exceed the benchmarks set by national standardized tests. Our professional development curriculum empowers teachers, providing the techniques and tools that turn science lessons into tangible, exciting concepts that students can touch, see, inquire about, and understand.

Community Outreach

Creating an impact in the Community is one of our focuses. Having events that allow the public to come together and share the common interests within the world of STEM, STEAM and beyond. The community has invested in ETHOS, so ETHOS could invest in you. That investment is to inspire our community and future generations within our region.

Academic Support & Inquiry

Designed for teachers K-12, Inquiry is an approach to learning that involves exploring the natural or material world in a way that leads to asking questions, making observations, planning
investigations, rigorously testing, and discussing results with others all to come to a deeper understanding of scientific phenomena and practices.

Science Academy & Programs

For our youth. ETHOS Science Academy Sessions are made up of four workshops each, allowing students to experience, investigate and discover scientific principles and processes. Programs vary from “Crime Scene Investigation” to dinosaur fossils and rockets, food chemistry and LEGO robotics!

Robotics & Innovation

Reaching students K-12, robotics programs allow students to take Inquiry to a whole new level in which they used problem-solving skills to find solutions to real-world problems. Student also display a set of Core Values that instill the want to support other students and teams within the program as they learn 21st Century Skills.

Our Dedication to STEM

ETHOS’s core business is to manage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) materials for regional schools and to provide in-depth training for their teachers in the STEM area. Every year over 100 teachers take advantage of ETHOS’ nationally recognized training center. Working in collaboration with area schools, ETHOS pursues and manages grants that support STEM education.

Additionally, our Science Center’s curriculum is designed to help classroom teachers and their students meet and exceed national standardized tests’ benchmarks. They focus on what their students — of all ages and grades — need to know. Our curriculum also adheres to the Smithsonian Science Center’s elements of successful science educational reform — from research through community and administrative support.

What kind of programming do you offer?
Programming directly for students includes science camps during Summer, Spring Break and Fall Break; after-school programming and field trips; Science2Go Bus visits (our Bus was the result of a collaboration of enthusiastic local RV manufacturers); plus ETHOS Academy and community events.
Where can we get involved in robotics?
ETHOS Science Center has two Robotics Centers: E3 Robotics Center, which helps to serve those within Elkhart County and GEARS (Granger Exploration And Robotics Studio) which helps to serve those within St. Joe County.

What is the Science 2 Go Bus and its programs?
Science 2 Go is a mobile science laboratory designed for grades K – 8. It contains six lab stations and some state of the art technology including a computer for each station. The Science 2 Go bus is operated through a joint effort by Elkhart community Schools and the not-for-profit ETHOS (Encouraging Technology and Hands On Science). We have lessons for grades 1, 2, 4, and 6. Any school in Elkhart County may request a Science 2 Go visit by completing the required visit forms and requesting a date.

MULTI-DIMENSIONS OF EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND STUDENT LEARNING FOR PRE K to 8th Grade TEACHERS

All services include training materials and supplies to conduct training of up to 25 participants. Additional fees charged for groups 26 and over. We can customize workshops to meet your needs.

I have been increasing the amount of inquiry used in my classroom after attending training at ETHOS.

I plan on using the vast majority of the pedagogical skills you demonstrated – inquiry, mindset, process skills…

Allowing my students to be more hands on with their learning and giving them time to ask questions has not only improved their  learning and questioning, but also their behavior.

Don't Be Shy

Drop us a line anytime, and one of our ETHOS staff members will respond to you as soon as possible.
